World renowned pianist and recording artist Brian Ganz will headline a week of concerts and music lectures at the Alcouffe Community Center in Oregon House from Sunday, September 4 through Sunday, September 11.

This will be the second year Mr. Ganz has performed at the new Alcouffe Center.

In the 2010 concert series, he electrified listeners in the packed hall with his dazzling technique, but also won their hearts through his intimate and emotional approach to the music, and his friendly commentaries between pieces. Even the children were enchanted.

Brian Ganz is an exceptional musical artist and widely regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation. The Washington Post stated One comes away from a recital by pianist Brian Ganz not only exhilarated by the power of the performance but also moved by his search for artistic truth.

Ganz has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as the St. Louis Symphony, St. Petersburg Philharmonic (of Russia), Baltimore Symphony, the National Symphony, City of London Sinfonia, L'Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, the National Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Kennedy Center with the Taipei Philharmonic.

The 3th Summer Music Festival 2011

The September 4 concert will be a solo recital by Ganz of works by Chopin, Ravel, Liszt and Beethoven, and on Tuesday, September 6 he will give Master Classes. Wednesday, September 7, will be a Lecture Presentation. Then, on Thursday, there will be a new event for the Festival, a “Young Musicians Concer ” with performances by our young local talent; children will be admitted free to this event.

For the Chamber Music Concert on September 11, Ganz will be joined by two other musicians also of international reputation: cellist Burke Schuchman and flutist Yael Ronen, performing works by Frank, Crumb, Gaubert and Ibert.

Burke Shuchmann made his debut in London at age 19, and became principal cellist and soloist with the Salzburger Solisten in Austria. He has taught at UC Berkeley and is artistic director of Palomarin Chamber Music Foundation.

Yael Ronen studied in Tel Aviv and London, and has performed as a soloist throughout Europe. She has appeared with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Israeli Philharmonic under conductors Zubin Mehta and Leonard Bernstein.

This world class musical event is made possible by local business support including Foothill ACE Hardware, Oregon House Grocery, Oregon House Community Clinic, Apollo Olive Oil, Grant-Eddie Winery, Clos Saron, Renaissance Vineyard & Winery, and Victoria Craig/Century 21 Real Estate, as well as private donors and volunteers.

It is also sponsored by the Palomarin Chamber Music Foundation, a Bay Area non-profit organization. Sherman Clay, Sacramento' s Steinway & Sons dealer, is providing a fine grand piano at a reduced price.
